Total Home Center’s story began in 1946, when Mr. and Mrs. Homer Powell founded St. Albans Electric Appliance Co. At that time, the business focused exclusively on electric appliances, serving local families with dependable products and personal service.

In 1974, the Powells sold the business to their son, David, who continued to grow the company over the years. As customer needs evolved, the store expanded its selection beyond appliances to include a wide range of electronics, supported by a full‑service department. Eventually, furniture and bedding were added as well, shaping the full home‑focused store customers know today.

As the business continued to grow, the need for additional space led to a move to its current location in 1984. With that move came a new name, Total Home Center, where the business proudly remains today.

Total Home Center is still family‑owned and operated, with deep roots in the community. Many members of our team have been with us for more than 30 years, and all are local individuals who genuinely care about the people they serve.
